Mari Sormunen, joukkueenjohtaja

Mari Sormunen, U15-joukkueen joukkeenjohtaja ja aktiivinen seuratoimija TAFTissa, tuli mukaan toimintaan poikansa Lennin harrastuksen myötä. "Meillä on alkamassa kuudes kausi taftilaisina. Viimeiset kaksi kautta olen ollut joukkueenjohtajana, mutta jo ennen sitä olen useasti löytänyt itseni kentän laidalta mm. ensiapuhommissa", kuvailee Mari kuluneita vuosia. 

TAFT U15 Bulls -joukkueen energinen joukkueenjohtaja Mari hoitaa joukkueensa käytännön asioita, kuten tiedottamista ja yhteydenpitoa vanhempien kanssa. "Toivon, että myös tulevalla kaudella saan olla mukana kehittämässä joukkuetta, joka paitsi menestyy peleissä, myös kunnioittaa joukkuekavereita ja vastustajia", toteaa Mari, "koko seuran osalta toivon, että saamme muodostettua jokaiseen ikäluokkaan toimivan joukkueen". TAFT U15 rakentaa parastaikaa joukkuetta, joka tavoittelee myös vuonna 2019 ikäluokkansa Suomen mestaruutta, ja tämän tavoitteen eteen myös Mari tekee työtä ja tukee joukkuettaan monin tavoin.

"Parhaaksi hetkeksi jojona nimeäisin viime kesänä voittamamme Suomen mestaruuden, jonka saavutimme yhteisjoukkueena ECG:n kanssa. Oli mahtavaa nähdä pelaajien riemu finaalipelin jälkeen", muistelee Mari ja jatkaa, "hienoja muistoja on jäänyt myös Snow Bowl -turnauksista, joissa olen saanut olla mukana jo viisi kertaa. On upeaa olla mukana Pohjoismaiden suurimman jenkkifudiksen junioritapahtuman järjestämisessä yhdessä muiden ahkerien taftilaisten kanssa. Yhdessä tekemisestä saa myös itselleen energiaa ja iloa".

Marin viesti kaikille pelaajien vanhemmille kuuluu "haluan kiittää kaikkia vanhempia, jotka paistavat mokkapaloja ja makkaraa, mahdollistavat pelit toimimalla chainissa ja muissa tehtävissä sekä, ennen kaikkea, jaksavat kannustaa pelaajia treeneihin myös näinä sateisina ja pimeinä loppusyksyn iltoina".

Mari Sormunen, Team Manager for TAFT U15 and an active member in TAFT organization, joined the club when her son Lenni started his career as a player. "Our sixth season in TAFT is about to start. For the two previous years I've been acting as a team manager, but already before that found myself performing in various tasks on and off the sideline, for example in the first aid team", sums Mari up.

As an energetic team manager Mari takes care of the practical matters, such as the informing and being in contact with the parents of her players. "My hope is to continue also in the upcoming season to develop our team to not only be successful on the field, but everyone to learn to respect their team mates, and the players on the other side of the ball", says Mari, and continues "for the entire club I wish we can build a team for every program starting from the youngest ones all the way to the seniors". TAFT U15 Bulls is currently building the team to pursue again the National Championship, and this is the goal Mari wants to reach for and help her team to get there.

"One of the best moments as a team manager was winning the gold in U15 National Championship last summer, when we had a joint team with ECG. Just seeing the joy of the players after the Final was magnificent", says Mari, "I also have a lot of great memories from the Snow Bowl tournaments from past five years. It's been fantastic to be a part of the organizing team together with all the hard-working people of TAFT making the largest Junior football event in the Nordics happen year after year. Working together gives a lot of energy and joy to me".

Mari wishes to thank all the parents of the football players for baking brownies or grilling sausages, or otherwise making it possible to play by taking care of the chain and other things needed, but above all, for encouraging their players to join every practice also when it's raining and it's dark during these late Autumn evenings.
