TAFT U15 victorious in Turku09.06.2015
The TAFT U-15 team traveled to Turku to play the always tough Trojans. TAFT was coming off of a season-opening win and the Trojans off of a loss, but that never matters when these two teams meet. Turku was the 2013 National Champion and TAFT to won it all in 2014.
TAFT would force Turku to punt on its opening drive and after getting the ball they wouldn't waste much time as they drove down the field in a few plays capped by Viljo Lempinen's 20-yd catch and run for a TD. After Antti Kekkonen's extra point kick, TAFT would go up quickly 8-0.
After another punt and another short drive, TAFT would score again on QB Jesper Korkalainen's 10-yard keeper for a TD.
Korkalainen would do it again on TAFT's next drive as he would snake all over the field for a 70-yard TD run to put TAFT up 22-0.
After the first of three INTs by Eemeli Tuovinen, Korkalainen would do it one more time behind the great blocking of Santeri Saastamoinen, Jasper Lindqvist, Jere Vierikko and Santeri Lindfors and race 45 yards for a TD to increase TAFT's lead to 30-0 early in the second quarter.
On the next drive, Patrik Palvas would intercept a pass and return it for a TD and TAFT would go into halftime up 38-0.
Turku would show what they were made of, as they played with great heart all game, and score on a nice catch and run.
TAFT would get it right back, though as Korkalainen found Lempinen on a nice pass for a 40-yard TD to keep the lead at 46-8. TAFT would add one more score in the 4th quarter when Arttu Partanen would find Lempinen for a 15-yard catch and run to end the scoring at 52-8.
TAFT would like to thank the Trojans for a good game and wish them luck for the rest of their season.
The TAFT coaches are happy with the game, especially with the play of the newcomer Kekkonen, who made 10 tackles in only his second game, and kicked 5/6 extra points.
TAFT will face the Roosters next Sat. (13.6), in a showdown of two undefeated teams and a rematch of the SnowBowl Final, where TAFT won in a hard-fought battle, 32-24. Please come and see some of the best youth football Finland has to offer at 16:30 in Tikkurila! |
