TAFT U15 to a clear victory in Seinäjoki

On a beautiful summer day, the TAFT U-15 (3-0) team travelled up to Seinäjoki to take on the host Crocodiles (2-0). As the only undefeated teams left, this would be a battle for first place and most likely homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Both teams had only given up 22 points, with the Crocs averaging 60 points a game and TAFT  averaging 38.
The Crocs would get the ball first but be forced to punt by the tough TAFT defense. It would only take two plays for TAFT to score as Jesper Korkalainen would find Eemeli Tuovinen for a 49-yd TD. After that, the floodgates would open.
     TAFT would score again and again as Korkalainen, coming off of a 430 yard game with the U-17 team, would throw for 441 yards and 7 TDs on the day. Tuovinen would catch four and Viljo  Lempinen would catch  three TD passes. Lempinen would also intercept a Crocs pass and take  that in for a TD. Santeri Lindfors would run behind the blocking of  Santeri Saastamoinen, Jere Vierikko, Jasper Lindqvist, Pate Palvas and Arttu Partanen all day for almost 100 yards and two TDs. Palvas and  Partanen would also have INTs on defense. The score at halftime was 44-8.
     TAFT would continue its offensive pressure in the second half and the final score was 79-28.
The Crocs played hard to the end and will surely do well in the remainder of their season.
     The TAFT coaches are very pleased with the performance. Despite missing two key starters, the team was able to rally and pick each other up despite playing some new positions.
     The Boys in White now have a bit of a break. The next game is at home in four weeks against the Porvoo Butchers (01.08). Hope to see you  there! Until then the players will be practicing hard and working to get better.
