TAFT U-15 season started with win over Helsinki Roosters

A new beginning
On a day that started with a light, wet, snow but ended up in sunlight, the TAFT U-15 team hosted the Helsinki Roosters in a rematch of the 2015 Finals. Both teams had a lot of new faces but had faced each other many times in great games and this would be no different. TAFT, however, was able to come away with a 36-6 victory.
The first half was one of domination as TAFT would shut down the Roosters' offense and control the ball. TAFT forced the Roosters to punt on their first drive and then took the ball right down the field as Santeri Lindfors would score the first of his three TDs to put TAFT up early. Another forced punt and this time Arttu Partanen would score from 15 yards out and TAFT was rolling. After stopping the Roosters on downs, Lindfors would score again and Miika Riionheimo would kick the first of his three extra points to put TAFT up 20-0 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was more of the same as the TAFT defense, lead by Jasper Lindqvist, Santeri Saastamoinen, and Valtteri Piik, would shut down all Rooster plays. Lindfors and Julius Pellinen would add rushing TDs and TAFT would lead 36-0 at halftime.
The second half was more of the anticipated game as the Roosters, as they always do, came out and played hard. They were able to slow down the TAFT offense and force some mistakes. They would get on the scoreboard with a few minutes left in the game to make the final score 36-6.
TAFT would like to thank the Roosters for a hard-fought game and wish them well for the rest of their season. The TAFT coaches are happy about the game, especially for all of the new players, playing their first U-15 game, or first game at all. Nonetheless, they will surely let the players know that there is A LOT of work to do still. A tough schedule is ahead of them and they need to continue to improve their games.
TAFT U-15 will play in Porvoo next, on 14.5, at 11:00. It would be great to have you all there to cheer on the Boys!
